How long have you been CrossFitting?  Since 2010

Which class time do you usually attend?  Almost always morning.  Used to be 6:15, now mostly 8:00.
How did you find CrossFit?  My daughter Lauren talked me into it.  We enrolled in an on-ramp class together.
What is your athletic background?  No sports in HS.  Started running to get in better shape and ran my first marathon is 1995 (I know, y’all were in kindergarten).  I also got into adventure racing (Mountain bike/kayak/trek).
How has CrossFit changed your life, lifestyle, level of fitness?  I was in pretty good shape cardio wise prior to joining CrossFit, but almost zero strength wise.  I have gradually improved all my lifting techniques and weights, although I still have a ways to go.  I still try to get in a 3-5 mile run 1/week, but I typically go to CrossFit 6 days/week.  It’s just what I do now.  Constantly varied functional movements performed at high intensity.  Genius if you ask me.  I’m not as good a runner as I used to be, but my overall fitness level has vastly improved.
What motivates/inspires you?  I’d have to say it’s the mindset in general of everyone who comes to the box to improve their fitness.  It ain’t easy, but on any given day, we all come together to get gooder.
What is your proudest (CF) achievement?  A close second was making the Masters OnLine qualifier in 2015 (194/200).  The last WOD was 21-15-9 DL/Box Jump/HSPU  for   time.  Prior to the WOD, I could only do a couple HSPU without my shoulders completely giving out.   But Holly cleared her schedule after the 8 AM class and we were gonna get it done one way or the other.  I figured we be there until lunchtime, but once I got going, and Holly got me straight on the wall, I was amazed how many HSPU’s I was able to get through.  It still took me 25 minutes to finish the workout, but finishing that WOD was undoubtedly my proudest achievement.
Name one goal/personal achievement that you would like to achieve through CrossFit.  Just stay healthy.  Life is so much gooder when you’re not sick or injured.

Hobbies/Interests outside of CrossFit? If I didn’t have to work, I would be a full time Paw Paw.  I have 3 grandkids in New Orleans (Maxwell 4, Beckett 2, and Maggie 1), and 1 in Montrose, Co. (Audrey 3).   I’m so happy Holly loves the babies, cause they are the best.
What is your favorite cheat meal?  My favorite would have to be Tex-Mex, but I love all of them.
Any advice for new members? My all-time favorite is leave your ego at the door.   CrossFit can be a very humbling experience.  Give your best effort every workout, and you will see the results.
Have you met Pukie? No I haven’t, but there have been times when I finished a workout and couldn’t breathe.  Not 1 single person has ever asked if I needed CPR….
